In this crowded and competitive digital world, making your online presence will be crucial to generating traffic and revenue.
At the University of Salford, my experience has been anything but awesome. I’ve learned a lot from the Salford Business School as a Digital Marketer who wants to advance his career. As it turns out, the majority of the abilities I’ve honed aren’t simply about Digital Marketing but also about interacting with people and managing one’s own time and responsibilities. The United Kingdom is an excellent place for continuing post-graduation studies, and that is why I chose the UK as my post-graduation destination.
Who am I?
I’m Akhil Jose, a post-graduation student of Digital Marketing at the University of Salford. I am a Computer Science Engineering graduate from PPG Institute of Technology, a college under Anna University Chennai, one of India’s most prestigious Universities. I have worked as a Digital Marketing Executive and was then promoted to team leader at Inselberg Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. from 2018 May to 2019 July. During this time at Inselberg, I had successfully run a number of campaigns which has helped the company to establish a name in the field of digital marketing. I have also played crucial roles in the company as well as taking up critical responsibilities and roles. I have also worked as an SEO Analyst at Code Ace IT Solution LLP from September 2019 to March 2020. This had helped me to invest myself in in-depth knowledge about SEO and I also had the exposure to learn the latest trends in SEO. I am currently working as a Freelance Digital Marketer, concentrating and researching widely on topics like Affiliate Marketing, Amazon Marketing etc.
Since it was a dream for me to move to the UK after my graduation to pursue the rest of my education. I have been cherishing my dreams of acquiring such quality education from a country like the UK for so long that it had even become more like a fire lighting inside. I was constantly dreaming about a day I fly from the greenery of my countryside to the world’s most developed and global influential centre only to come back to my rural native and begin a start-up of my own with whatever education I will have. I did my own possible research and strived hard to reach my decision. After completing my graduation I shifted my career and academic track to the digital marketing sphere as I was always into marketing. It was a big step in shifting my focus from the computer science field to the digital marketing field.
As I was very passionate about Computer Science and the wide sea of opportunities it could offer, I have always had a keen interest in knowing more about the same. In fast pacing digitalised world like ours, I understand the exposure and possibility one could have from this field is indescribable. I also comprehend that this luxury field of Computer Science opens doors to extensive employment and prospects. When I navigated my investigation regarding the possibilities of computer science and technology, I found digital marketing to be very engaging and promising to step into. I want to be educated at one of the world’s No.1 Universities so that I will have boundless chances to explore the potential of Digital Marketing. I hope to come back to my hometown someday and establish a business of my own. I want to share whatever little knowledge I’ve with my people and want to open more opportunities to the youth here who are ignorant about many resources.

MSc Digital Marketing in Salford Business School
I’ve got many insights from Msc Msc. Digital Marketing. Digital Marketing has become an extensive field where a lot of discoveries are happening on a daily basis. It has acquired such relevance in recent times than ever before. As it is all about marketing one’s products, services or anything through a digital platform, I found this field very interesting and promising. We are living in a world where everything is at our fingertips. In a world like this, understanding the flow and moving along with it is very important. Since marketing has taken a very different rhythm of being digitally active, businesses across the globe have found a way to reach potential customers easier and smoother than ever. I believe there is a lot to learn in Digital Marketing since it is such a huge topic to understand. I want to have in-depth knowledge of digital marketing and its associated terms like internet marketing, affiliate marketing etc. I’d also like to explore areas like branding, SEO, SMO, SMM, advertising and more. In a world full of successful entrepreneurs, it would be amazing to play the role of a digital marketing company to help out them in their business by providing solutions to their dreams.
The four main modules that I got the privilege of interacting with were digital marketing analytics & strategy, online & offline consumer behaviour, digital marketing communications, and search and social media marketing. All of these broad headings fall under the scope of becoming a digital marketer.
Digital Marketing Analytics and Strategy
The digital marketing analytics and strategy module gave me a stronger look at how big data can be used for analysing the marketing stats and making strategic decisions for the organisations. For instance, the nature of comments dictates a lot about how the consumers or audience felt about specific content. As my interest in the subject is quite high, the guidance of the module tutors helped me grip the concepts better and apply them at my workplace.
Online and Offline Consumer Behaviour
It is amazing to see how the same consumer might have variance in their behaviour while offline and online. It is not uncommon to see a shy person, in reality, leave big constructive comments on social media posts. Another interesting example is the digital and physical cart. People will seldom put back an item they have put in their carts. But when it comes to digital carts, people are frequently found leaving out their carts and exiting the website without making the purchase. By the use of many other interesting examples and established models and theories, the online and offline consumer behaviour module taught me a lot about how the behaviour differs greatly based on whether the customers are online or offline.
Digital Marketing Communications
There are multiple options for communicating with the target audience. not just multiple ways of communicating but also the different modes and moods of communication. The digital marketing communications module helped me understand how important it is to choose the right media for communication with the right crowd. For instance, if somebody wishes to connect with a younger mass, social media platforms such as Instagram will be more impactful. As for more serious placements with a more elderly target audience, Facebook will be a more appropriate choice. If a company wishes to hire new employees, there is no better option than LinkedIn.
Search and Social Media Marketing
Any digital marketer should know SEO. Using SEO makes it easier to track and target certain consumers. The search and social media marketing module gave me great exposure to the concept of SEO and how to do it. Finding the proper keywords is an important topic in SEO. Salford Business School has been a great help to me. Salford has taught me everything from keyword complexity to choosing the best keywords for advertising a given site. I couldn’t understand why some popular terms got greater bids and ranked higher on the difficulty scale. Later on, it became evident that people were searching for such words more, increasing demand. So targeting simple or rare phrases can help promote products and services. Whenever I have a question, the teachers are very prompt at answering them without delay.
The mere words stated above cannot explain how the modules have enriched my knowledge in the field of digital marketing. Now, I am more interested in the field of digital marketing, and I firmly believe that I have everything that it takes to be a good digital marketer in a reputed firm in the UK.
I feel proud to have enrolled in this university to pursue my higher education. I would be really grateful to get an opportunity to be a student at the University of Salford. I really look forward to having my post-graduation done at the University of Salford with high grades so that I can return to my native and begin a start-up of my own with everything I’ve learned from here. I look forward to seeing a day when I graduate from the University of Salford, making a big wide smile on the face of my parents and loved ones.
